The WRC Welcomes a New Executive Director

We would like to provide an update regarding some staffing transitions within the Workers’ Resource Centre. Our current Executive Director, Dr. Leigh Golden will be leaving the organization effective August 25, 2017. She has accepted a position as Deputy Director, Global Technical Services for Nutrition International, and her and her family will be relocating to Ottawa to be closer to relatives. Since taking over as Executive Director in 2012, we have seen an increase in client entitlements increase from approx. $2.3 million in 2012 to approx. $8.7 million in 2016. Dr. Golden has been crucial in the development of new WRC programs and services, and we would like to wish her the very best in her new endeavor and thank her for her years of service with the WRC.

Effective August 25, 2017, Chris Farness will be transitioning from his role as a WRC caseworker to the position of Executive Director. Chris joined the WRC in 2013 as the Intake Coordinator before accepting the role of Caseworker in 2015. Chris has brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as a Caseworker including fostering important partnerships with the Chinese Cultural Community Association (CCCSA), and representing 41% of all WRC clients in filing claims/complaints/appeals.

We would like to wish Leigh the best of luck as she transitions to her adventure, and welcome Chris to his new role as Executive Director.
