Position Summary
The Outreach Caseworker plays a vital frontline role in expanding WRC’s reach to underserved communities by delivering services through remote and satellite clinics—either virtually or occasionally in person. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position provides direct client support to workers facing employment-related challenges, including Employment Standards, Employment Insurance, and Human Rights complaints. The Outreach Caseworker also assists on our centralized intake line, ensuring timely, compassionate, and informed service to all callers. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide direct case support to clients via phone, video, in-person at community satellite clinics, and at our downtown Calgary office 
  • Assist workers with employment-related issues including, but not limited to: unpaid wages, workplace injuries, unsafe working conditions, discrimination, and benefit access 
  • Conduct client intakes and maintain accurate, confidential case notes using internal database systems 
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives, building relationships with local service providers and organizations 
  • Monitor trends in client concerns to inform public legal education and advocacy strategies 
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions, and engage in ongoing professional development 
  • Uphold WRC’s core values of equity, dignity, and justice in all client interactions 

Qualifications 

  • Post-secondary education in social work, legal studies, or a related field—or equivalent experience in community or advocacy work 
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta’s Employment Standards Code, Human Rights Act, and Employment Insurance system is an asset 
  • Proven ability to support individuals experiencing systemic barriers, high stress, or crisis 
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including newcomers, racialized workers, and persons with disabilities 
  • Fluency in additional languages is a significant asset 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Comfort with remote technologies and the ability to work independently in off-site settings 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high caseloads while balancing client expectations 
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to community locations as required
