The Workers' Resource Centre operates under a set of Guiding Principles and a Statement of Respect.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The Workers' Resource Centre:
believes that everyone has the right to access information and services for employment-related issues in a safe, supportive, and respectful manner.
will work for economic justice for all; regardless of age, race, religion, gender, class, sexual orientation, or ability.
believes that both unionized and non-unionized workers need help with their work-relates issues; including understanding their rights, support with attaining their benefits and entitlements, and assistance in navigating the various systems of employment-related issues.
is committed to providing both individual support, as well as support to develop collective solutions.
will work to ensure that policies that affect workers in Alberta are just and fair.
will work from a capacity-building and empowerment perspective.
will strive to provide services that are culturally sensitive, and involve staff who are culturally competent and committed to issues of equality and diversity.
will provide services free of charge to any individual requiring our assistance.
STATEMENT OF RESPECT
The Workers' Resource Centre strives to create an environment that is respectful, just, safe, and comfortable for all employees, clients, members, Board and volunteers.
Discriminatory words or conduct which contribute to undermining the dignity and self-esteem of an individual, including, but not limited to, discrimination on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, place of origin, political or religious belief, gender, gender identity and expression, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, physical disability and mental disability will not be tolerated.
